Manitowish Waters Paved Bike Trails
52 miles paved bike trails through the towns of Boulder Junction, Manitowish Waters, Mercer, Sayner - Star Lake and St. Germain.
North Lakeland Discovery Center
Enjoy hiking, biking, skiing, snowshoeing and wildlife watching along our 12-mile trail system. Our trails are OPEN TO EVERYONE, from dawn to dusk. The terrain is gentle and winds through the woods, along the lake, bog and nearby Manitowish River allowing you to explore a variety of habitats each with their own unique plants and animals. In the winter, trails are tracked for classic skiing, and we have snowshoes available for use on site. (In winter, leashed dogs allowed on snowshoe trail only.) Members may use the snowshoes for free, general public pay $5 per pair.
April through October, enjoy our 22-Station Breeding Bird Trail. Signs are dispersed throughout the trail system, highlighting birds known to breed in or near that exact spot.
November through April, depending on weather, you can hike, fat bike, snowshoe or XC ski. Give us a call for the most up to date trail conditions.

WINMAN - Hiking, Snowshoeing, Biking
Hike: 15 miles of ski and snowshoe trails that are mowed regularly during the summer fall season for hiking and trail running. Trails are wide enough to walk alongside family and friends. Well behaved dogs are welcome off-leash once on our trails.
Bike: 18 miles of machine-built flow and cross country trails (and growing!)
Snowshoeing: 5 miles of loops. Taking you across rolling terrain, through pine stands, fir groves, and hardwood forests.
Ski: 13+ miles of ski trails groomed for classic and skate style cross-country skiing. These are ski-able with minimal snow. The terrain is rolling, with some fun downhills and challenging uphill, meandering through maple, pine and aspen stands and is designed for all levels of skiers.

A true outfitter providing you all the rental gear for every season, including fat bikes. Let them help you plan a camping canoe trip down the Manitowish River into the Turtle Flowage. Or just a lazy float trip down the river right out their back door.

Cranberry Marsh Tours
The tour includes an educational video, tasting cranberry samples, Q&A session and prizes. Then it’s off to motorcade in your own vehicle to Vilas Cranberry Company for an up-close look at the bogs.
